Understanding the Stages

Stage 0

Abnormal cells are present but have not spread to surrounding tissue (DCIS). Highly treatable.

Stage I

Invasive cancer with a small tumor (up to 2cm) that has not spread to lymph nodes.

Stage II

Tumor is 2-5cm or has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Still highly treatable.

Stage III

Locally advanced cancer that has spread to multiple lymph nodes or chest wall.

Stage IV

Metastatic cancer that has spread to distant organs like bones, liver, or lungs.
